The scale doesn’t tell you the whole story. While it is a way to gauge weight loss, fitness is about so much more. It’s about building strength and endurance and doing things we couldn’t do before. Let’s chat about some other ways we can track our progress! You are doing something right if…
1. You can lift heavier. As you increase the number of workout sessions you log, you might notice yourself reaching for heavier weights. That means it’s working – you are building strength and your body is ready to take on more to keep progressing.
2. You can last longer in your workouts. Are you able to add on a few extra minutes to your run? Or maybe you opt for a 60-minute yoga class instead of the 30-45 minute one where you’ve been a regular? Your body is building endurance and is ready and wanting more. Go for that longer workout when you feel it’s right for you!
3. You have more energy or are sleeping better. Regular exercise can greatly benefit your energy levels and sleep habits. If you exercise in the morning, take note of how that impacts your day. Do you move through the day with more energy or feel more productive at work or home? While having a regular workout routine can’t guarantee a good night’s sleep, it certainly can help. With the stress-relieving benefits of a sweat session, it may help bring peace to your mind and help you settle into bed.
4. You fit better in your clothes. Notice that your clothes are fitting just a little bit better? Not only does this give you a little confident boost, but it also shows that your body is physically changing as a result of your routine.
5. You can perform your day-to-day activities with better ease. A big reason why we exercise is for functional fitness—which means we can move about our day more easily. Have you noticed you can carry in more grocery bags at a time or you aren’t as winded taking the stairs? This is a result of your strength and endurance improvements you’ve made by staying dedicated to your workouts.
These are just a few ways you may see improvements in your life, but there are many more! What’s something you notice change in your body or lifestyle as a result of a regular exercise routine? Share below!
